Prior Lake Rotary is building a comfortable outdoor space for Passageways in Prior Lake, Mary Haugen presented. She also spoke about future plans for the facility and future opportunities to help Passageways which include, a music studio, provide therapy supplies, and a library and educational area.
How will Rotarians help?
- Share expertise in music or in technology.
- Club members will check out studios already being used by young people.
- Help actually selecting and purchasing equipment.
- Help set up a studio.
- Training for staff so they are able to train clients.
Passageways Shelter and Housing Program provide housing for youth ages 15 to 24 who have been victims of human trafficking.
Passageways are inclusive of all gender identities and can serve parenting youth with one child. The Passageways program also provides a variety of on-site services specific to sexual exploitation that include case management, mental health therapy, education programming, life skills training, a survivor mentor program, health care services, and positive youth development activities.
Human slavery has been identified as such a global issue that Rotary International has identified this as one of the next global initiatives to solve as we get closer to celebrating the end of polio.
