Jake Sedlacek, Xcel Energy gave a great presentation abut what Xcel Energy is doing to become carbon free. By 2018 they cut their carbon footprint by 38%. Future goals are 80% reduction by 2030 and 100% carbon free by 2050. To achieve this goal, your energy will be a diverse mix of wind, solar, and other carbon-free resources.
Serving customers with 100 percent carbon-free electricity will require technologies not yet commercially available. Even though our carbon-free aspiration is decades away, we’re beginning work now with stakeholders to help develop these technologies, as well as the policies and support, that will make this aspiration achievable.
